About Us

Our Mission

Worshipping the living God, the First Baptist Church of Mason is committed to loving others, winning the lost, and maturing disciples in the name of Christ.

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the word of God without error, and everything we do comes from God’s direction, found in His Word and He will not contradict what He has written in His Word no matter what changes in the world.

We believe that salvation is a gift from God given to people who trust Jesus to forgive their sins because of Jesus’s personal sacrifice on the cross where He took full punishment for our sins on Himself that led to His physical death.

We believe He raised from the dead three days later to signify His power and victory of death and promised to give people the gift of forgiveness and eternal life with Him if they turn from their sin and follow Him.

We believe in Believer’s Baptism. We only practice and affirm Baptism that is done in response to an individual’s personal profession of faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Baptism is an external expression of an internal reality. Water Baptism is not required for salvation, as it is the work of the Holy Spirit to cleanse us, not water, but is something that should be practiced in all cases and should be witnessed by other members of the church.

We believe that the primary mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by going and sharing the good news of Jesus and by teaching people all He has commanded us in His Word. Everything we do is based upon this mission. If a ministry or endeavor of this church becomes ineffective or unfocused on this mission it will no longer be done or will be changed. The methods of “doing church” have changed thousands of times, but the mission will never change.

We observe the Lord’s Supper as instituted by Jesus in the upper room on the night of His betrayal. We practice this ordinance, as it was ordained by Jesus, several times a year, but not so often that it becomes routine. The Lord’s Supper is an important time of worship and gospel proclamation as we are “declaring the Lord’s death until He returns.” The Lord’s Supper should not be taken in a haphazard way.

We believe that only Christians who have professed their faith through Believer’s Baptism should take the Lord’s Supper. If members have unresolved conflicts or unconfessed sin, they should seek reconciliation and confession before taking the Lord’s Supper.

We believe that marriage means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word spouse refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is husband or wife. Marriage outside of these parameters is not Biblical and therefore will not be practiced or affirmed in this church.
